STORY: It would appear that a performance celebrating ancient Chinese tradition and the Lunar New Year are too sensitive for Chinese communist authorities. Liu Peng is a teacher from Shanghai. He says he was arrested after making legal copies of DVDs containing performances Divine Performing Arts’ Chinese New Year Spectacular. On October 21st under tight police presence, Liu appeared before Shanghai’s Local Court. His defense attorney, who we are referring to as Mr. Li… says the charges are ridiculous. [Mr. Li, Defense Attorney]: “The DVD is only about the celebration program of Chinese New Year, it’s performing arts. But the government thinks it’s harmful to people – that’s ridiculous.
